Part one:

I had a "free" day....all to myself.  Oh what to do?  I had quite a list but decided to get started with some painting projects.  In the midst of this....I had my back door opened (beautiful, spring-like morning).  I was in and out preparing to paint when two birds flew into my dining room.  As I frantically calmly surveyed the situation I opened my front door (not thinking) and one of my (very, well-trained) dogs bolted.  Now....one bird and dog outside and one bird and one dog inside.  I had to jump in my car to retrieve my Macy girl.....and that I did.  I am not sure what you paint in....I looked quite lovely....old sweatshirt, pants....and my husbands socks....no shoes could be found as I rescued her.

Part two:

Came home put dogs in the backyard and tried with everything I had to get the bird out of my upstairs loft.  I decided to change my Pandora station to hymns and pray.   At one point the little bird flew downstairs and I was so happy. Quietly I opened my front door again and prayed for him to be free.  Nope.....he darted to the kitchen and in come my dogs.  (not sure how they got back in)Macy dog out the front door again. I am not kidding.  Off I go and this time I encounter a sweet neighbor who has two little dogs....and my Macy was just stopped in her tracks staring at them.  Once again I got her back into the car and thanked our neighbor.  CHAOS.

Part three:

Finally the little bird flew outside...Praise God.  I cleaned up a few bird messes upstairs.  Settled my dogs in the backyard and resumed painting.

My free day was more than I had anticipated.   I have to laugh as I read my devotional on my computer desk......

"It helps me if I remember that God is in charge of my day-not I."

Hope your Monday went well.

I'm sorry, but I can't stop laughing picturing this scene! God sure is in charge, isn't he? He loves to remind us in the most interesting ways. You know, you could have called me to come help! We'd then have yet another crazy caper to remember in our old blue-haired days. Time for screen doors?? ;-)

  2. I just came over from NewEveryAM (my daughter) & had such a good laugh reading the escapades of the birds & dogs! Your description was so good that I felt like I was there! Doesn't God have a great sense of humor?!
