New Day

The Handmade Home

Thank you to all my sweet readers for lifting me up in prayer.  I am doing much better!!

I am starting my first day of assisting preschool this Tuesday.  I was in the classroom with my teacher friend Andi last week preparing.  We met our students and families on Friday for meet the teacher day.  I am so excited to be part of this class.  This will be an adjustment for our family this year.  However, I don't start work until after my kids begin school in the morning and my preschool ends at noon. I have read that the most important times to be with your kids are before and after school.....dinner and bedtime....if at all possible.  I am just trying this for a year and if it is too much....then I will rethink my schedule for the next school year.  Oh...I have Mondays off...which means....sometimes I will be running around and other times...I may be in my pjs all day. I also have time to occasionally help in my son's class which I didn't want to give up either.

I will probably be sharing a lot of my philosophy of early childhood on my blog this year....I am such a play-based theorist at heart.  I also love children's books for all ages and need to figure out how to display them on my sidebar.

My daughter began Middle School and my son began 3rd grade.  Whew!  We made it through our first full week with homework and the whole enchilada! I think we are doing ok! Cross your fingers.

  1. I'm so excited for you and your new endeavors. I taught preschool many moons ago and loved every minute of it. I still teach 3 year old Sunday School with my daughters. Love the little ones! I will keep you in my prayers during your transition time. I'm sure it will all work out and I love your plan. Give it a year and see.

  3. Hi Jen, thanks for the email! It was so nice to read and you have been on my mind as well! So happy to hear that school is off to a great start for the kids. I loved teaching preschool too. Can't wait to hear how it is going for you. I think the time sounds great and having Mondays off sounds perfect! Prayers your way as you begin!
